Used the KitchenAid to cream the butter and sugar. I browned the butter first which gives them a way better flavor, kind of nutty and caramel-y. They came out soft in the middle with slightly crispy edges, which is exactly how a cookie should be.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla extract
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1.Preheat oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2.Whisk together 2½ cups flour, ¾ tsp baking soda, and ¾ tsp salt in a medium bowl.
- 3.Beat 1 cup softened butter with ¾ cup brown sugar and ½ cup granulated sugar on medium-low speed until very light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- 4.Add 1 egg and 1 tbsp vanilla and beat until combined, scraping down the bowl as needed.
- 5.On low speed, gradually add the flour mixture until just combined. Stir in 1½ cups chocolate chips by hand.
- 6.Scoop dough into 1½-tablespoon balls and place on the prepared sheets. Press extra chocolate chips on top if desired. Chill for 1 hour or up to 72 hours for deeper flavor.
- 7.Bake 12-14 minutes until the edges are golden brown. Cool on the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
